Intercession and Justice

The Reading for Today: Psalm 79

This psalm is a powerful prayer of intercession for others. There is longing for God’s justice, not merely for personal self-satisfaction. So too in your own life: instead of wanting personal wrongs done to you to be made right, pray that wrongs done to the Lord would be avenged. Remember that the Lord said, “Vengeance is mine” (Deuteronomy 32:35).

The cross made the greatest wrong, right. Jesus’ love on the cross wrenches from the hand of the Enemy, any more power to do harm. God will not allow the glory of the holy Name to be shamed in any way. However, allow the Lord to bring this about in God’s own time and manner—not yours. Hold the final verse of the Psalm close to your heart.
