A Festival Song

The Reading for Today: Psalm 81

Are you sometimes your own worst enemy? This is likely due to stubbornness—ears and heart blunt to the Word of the Lord. Join with the many praying this psalm with you today, along with all the generations who sang this song at the time of the Jewish New Year and at other festivals. Listen carefully to the promises at the end of the psalm. The finest of wheat is offered—the Body of the Lord Jesus in Holy Communion. Receive the Lord often. Become as the Food you eat—open, receptive, abandoned to the Father, as is the Son in the joy and love of the Holy Spirit.

Let every day, every hour, be a new beginning.
