The Fire of Service

Mark 10:35-45

Pride versus humility—the age-old them is here again. The disciples of Jesus do not understand the answer; they will not until the resurrection comes and the Holy Spirit empowers them.

These sayings about service and surrender are soaked in the power of the Spirit, not only in their writing, but also in your reading. You further the power when you share the daily passage with others. You are encountering the very Word of God tailored to fit your life and your circumstances. May these Firestarters do their work—start the fire in the hearth of your heart. Reflect. Allow embers to remain as gentle, inward writings. Read, meditate, pray, and do what the Lord tells you to do about your life.
