Following Jesus Down the Road

Mark 10:46-52

Here is Jesus’ final miracle before his triumphal entry into Jerusalem, his passion and death. Ponder the wonder of it; a blind man receives sight.

Blind persons wore a specially marked cloak that told people that they needed alms. Bartimaeus takes a leap of faith that he is going to be healed. He need no longer be treated with special privileges granted to the blind. As happens in the miracles of Jesus, by stepping out in faith, he comes closer into Jesus’ presence. In seeing Jesus more clearly, he can follow him more closely.

Ask to see those areas where you are blind to the presence and power of Jesus in your life. There is a deeper miracle yet to take place in your life so that you too can follow him more closely and love him more dearly.
