Eating the Scroll

Revelation 10—11

Horrors are described that would be put the most advanced cinema technology to the test. Chaos irrupts in these chapters of the last book of the Bible that make us wonder if the order God created in Genesis has been totally reversed.

Co-dependency is a modern name for an old disease, indeed an old and original sin—doing what others want instead of what God wants. God’s grace can cancel this, so that we can become prophetic witnesses.

Eat the scroll of the Word today. Digest it and be aware of the spiritual feelings that accompany it—sweetness because it is the Word of God; bitterness because authentic prophesy means suffering and even death to self.

Be encouraged by these strong chapters that conclude this year’s reading of Revelation. Just as we began five Thursdays ago with the three hymns of chapters 4 and 5, linger for a long time with the two hymns that conclude chapter 11, allowing them to echo in joy and triumph within the walls of your soul.
