When we remove the Word from life, all hell breaks out. First, come the gentle tugs of seduction in all its forms. The Evil One preys upon us, seeking to put some distraction between us and God’s presence to us in the Word. The poetry of this chapter is designed to shock those being seduced into an awakening to the danger.
If you do not cling to the Lord, then sin will cling to you. Spend some time today taking inventory of those persons, places or things to which you are attached—and they to you. Plunge into God’s saving presence, asking for the gift of detachment from everything so that you can attach yourself to the Lord and what God offers.
PRAY when being preyed upon!
