Just as Moses prepared Joshua for leading God’s people into the Promised Land, so does Paul instruct Titus as a leader of the Church on the Island of Crete. As in the First Letter to Timothy, here are the qualities needed for a leader in the church. Similar to the contrasts in Psalm 1 are the contrasts between good and evil leaders.

God calls you to take a special place of leadership for God’s People. Beyond administrative leadership associated with the office of bishop, gifts and graces are given to you to be a leader in your own way. Meditate on the list of virtues required for spiritual leaders. What are the areas where you need to grow?

Be a steward of God and the things of God. May your daily contact with the Word steadily purify you and clarify the sacred call God has placed upon your life.

  1. It’s early morning; a candle is lit. I pray the passage and find a few verses touching the heart:

Verse 3 – God revealed his message at the appropriate time through preaching, and I was trusted with preaching this message by the command of God our savior.
A precious treasure that God has entrusted to me; “Where your treasure, there your heart.” (Matthew 6:21)

Verse 15 – Everything is clean to those who are clean…
When the soul is clear and, we can see the goodness in others because there is no judgment.
