Here I Come!

The Eleventh of Thirteen Sundays in Kingdomtide
Matthew 25:1-13

Nick reads the one-minute introduction.

If there is any outdoor game we all played as children, it is “Hide ‘n Seek,” with its ringing cry: “Ready or not: here I come!” Think of this shout coming from Jesus as we start the fire on the lamps of our hearts with “The Parable of the Wise and Foolish Virgins.” Ten are asked to meet the bridegroom; five are ready, five are not.

There is a difference between those playing Hide ‘n Seek and those lost and not yet found. For the latter, the bridegroom becomes the Good Shepherd who goes in search of the lost sheep. Those already found need to stop playing Hide ‘n Seek with Jesus, and simply get ready, for he is coming!

About your heart: may it be soaked in the oil of the Holy Spirit so that when he touches your heart with a tongue of fire, you will shine as a light to the world.

Sundays are dedicated to the Gospels from The Revised Common Lectionary.
