Cast Your Burdens

Surrounded by personal enemies and bullied—this is how the writer of this psalm is suffering.  With arms stretched high, he lifts his cry to the Lord.

Even though his friend has betrayed him and mocked him by quoting verses from parts of the Bible,  let’s take a close look at this verse: “Cast your burden on the Lord and he will sustain you.” The word “cast” is the word used when camels fall to their knees, tilt to one side, and drop their burden.

Now that’s something that you can do.  Take all that’s bothering you, drop to your knees by your bed, fall forward and turn everything over to God.  Like the wish of the writer of the psalm to fly away like a dove,  the winds of the Holy Spirit will lift you to a place of peace.
