Where We Really Live

It looks suspicious: a few tribes don’t want to go across the Jordan River into the Promised Land, but ask to stay on this side of the river. Were they afraid? Today’s reading checks this out.

Much more than the address where you now live and the future addresses where you will live when you have your own family, there is “place” where we are to live—in the spiritual body which is Jesus risen. Stop and sit quietly in silence. As you sink down, picture yourself sinking into Jesus—your brother who loves you and who welcomes you into His life.

Numbers 32:20-32

Here is a sample of a seven-syllable breath-prayer from today’s reading:
Give me just Your love and grace.
For more information about this creative way to pray, see Bible Breaths.

This is the sixth of thirteen weeks in the season of Pentecost, Year B.
Thursdays are dedicated to the New Testament, except the Gospels.
In this season we read 2 Corinthians.

These Firestarters are from a new edition of The Bible Through the Seasons being developed for families with children. For the Firestarters in the original edition, I recommend the ebook.  You will have the entire program of well over a thousand Firestarters with you on your phone or tablet.  More information…

  1. I love your breath prayers. I still do them. This is yours for today:
“Give me just Your love and grace.”

    Here is mine for today:
“Give me Your just love and grace.”

    Words are fascinating, aren’t they?

    God bless you and yours,
