Bragging About Weakness

“My grace is enough for you, because power is made perfect in weakness.” So I’ll gladly spend my time bragging about my weaknesses so that Christ’s power can rest on me.
2 Corinthians 12:9

I’m not into watching wrestling matches, but sometimes when I’m channel surfing, I pass by and hear somebody like the Hulk boasting about how strong they are and how he is going to defeat his opponent.

Let’s imagine a very thin man with hardly any muscles, standing in the ring, bragging about how weak he is, yet still yelling out that he’s going to beat the Hulk, The thin man claims he’s got a power inside that is stronger than muscles.

Paul is like that person as he boasts about how weak he is. He’s so happy about that, because then he knows that God’s power is going to be working all the more strongly in him.

What a great way to look at things! When you find that you are weak before something or someone much stronger than you, then you have the chance to turn to God and God’s strength that is just waiting to come inside you and give you so much power in your mind and heart over whatever is wrestling against you. With God you can win over anything!

2 Corinthians 12:8-10
