We were gentle with you like a nursing mother caring for her own children. We were glad to share not only God’s good news with you
but also our very lives because we cared for you so much.
1 Thessalonians 2:7-8
I hope you catch the tenderness in the words of Paul. He writes as though you and I are right there listening to those who first received his letter, almost 2000 years ago! His words have come to be sacred and part of the Bible because those who first heard his words heard them as the words of God. So read slowly, prayerfully, with friends and family. Be on the lookout for fresh beauty and wonder that will pop up from the page. God will be speaking to you! Watch how you feel, what you think and the kind of space in and around you as you read these sacred, loving words.
Here is a sample of a seven-syllable breath-prayer
from today’s reading:
Gentile to all, as children v. 7
