Visions of Wonder

“You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they existed and were created.”

Revelation 4:11

The final Thursdays of the season of autumn and Kingdomtide find us taking some chapters from the Book of Revelation. Stand next to St. John, the sacred writer, and picture the visions that he has. Just as Daniel, so here in the Book of Revelation, we are given images of heavenly places and sometimes of evil settings and people that are at war against God.

As you read these chapters, go slowly so that your imagination can be filled with the wonder that John has in his heart. When you come to those verses of praise and adoration, join in the chorus of heaven that is praising all the wonders of God. May your day on earth be filled with heaven!

Revelation 4—5

Here is a sample of a seven-syllable breath-prayer
from today’s reading:
By Your will, all things were made. 4:11
For more information about this creative way to pray,
see Bible Breaths.

This is the eighth of thirteen weeks
in the season of Kingtomtide,
autumn in the north Year B.
Thursdays are dedicated to the New Testament, except the Gospels.
In this season we are reading 1st and 2nd Thessalonians.
