The Word became flesh
and made his home among us.
We have seen his glory,
glory like that of a father’s only son,
full of grace and truth.
Take a look at the opening words of the Gospel of St. John in today’s reading and then turn to the first words of the Bible. How is one just like the other? Now don’t look at the answer coming in the rest of this Firestarter…so just pause and turn to both readings and see how they are the same.
OK, assuming that you’ve done that, we can reflect on how these two whole readings are alike. After you’ve found the likeness of the beginning, take a look at the rest of the reading from the beginning of Genesis and this reading and see how they can be compared. What’s the same? What’s different? When you find the answers to these questions, how do you feel?
