The Bride and the Bridge

When the letter “G” (for God) is added to the word “bride,” the word becomes bridge! This is what happens when your soul becomes like a spouse to God: such a love brings you very, very close to God. We become so happy with this love, that it becomes a bridge to others to connect them to God.

In today’s reading, Isaiah likens the city of Jerusalem to the Bride of God. Jerusalem has always been a city of conflict, even to our own day. But God offers this city the love of a husband for his wife. Look at the promises that come to the city because of God. These promises are for you and me as well when we respond to God’s love with a total “YES”!
