When you’re on a family trip, do you like to stop at scenic overlooks along the way? Sometimes when I’m traveling I don’t know whether to stop or just keep going…Rushing to “get there” means that we miss some things along the way!
We are about to begin the great season of Lent with Ash Wednesday coming this week. It’s a powerful season of growth for us as God’s people, just as spring–which is what the word “Lent” means–is a mighty move of the earth to get ready for warmth and flowers.
So rather than keep right on going on our yearly trip through the seasons, we stop at this “Scenic Overlook” to get a glimpse of who Jesus is. Join with Peter, James, John and Jesus as they hike up a mountain. When they get there, St. Peter will tell you what happens. It’s a wonderful story. Be with the four of them and catch the excitement and the surprise. Then walk down the mountain with your four friends and get ready for the coming journey of Lent.
