Today we have a very short reading, but one filled with feeling and peace. Here’s what’s happening. In the middle of the great crowd going to Jerusalem, a mother needs to stop and nurse her baby. She’ll catch up with the rest later; but for now, everything comes to a halt while she gazes–not forward toward the city–but downward to the face of her child quietly resting after the baby has just nursed…milk dripping from the side of the baby’s mouth as he falls asleep.
God wants to feed us just like that. So pause in the “journey” of your day and drink from God’s Word, and especially be open to feel way inside your soul, how much God loves and nourishes you.
Psalm 131
