Have you ever seen a Marathon race? You’ve probably watched a part of one on TV. All along the route of the race thousands of people stand and cheer on those they know and love who are running in the race.
I think of this when the writer of this psalm describes the hills and rivers. They are like by-standers cheering on God’s people in the Exodus. From the start to the finish line in the Promised Land, All God’s creation cheers on these people who once were slaves, now going on to freedom.
Think of all that is around you today as cheering you on as you run the course of your life. May you reach the finish line today and in heaven, with your hands raised high in victory!
Wednesdays are devoted to the reading of the Psalms,
one a week across the three-year cycle.
