The Compassion of God

A bad city, Nineveh was.  Jonah hated the people there.  But look what God does: he takes Jonah and commands that he bring a promise of forgiveness to Nineveh if the city repents.  “Not me!” says Jonah! He’ll have nothing to do with that…

Or will he?!  It is a wonderful story about how persistent God is in urging us to do what we are called to do.  Even the whale obeys God and coughs up Jonah onto the shore so that Jonah will have a second chance to do what God wants.

Marvel at God’s patience with Nineveh, with Jonah…and with each one of us.
