The Here and Now

God said to him, ‘Fool, tonight you will die. Now who will get the things you have prepared for yourself?’ This is the way it will be for those who hoard things for themselves and aren’t rich toward God.”
Luke 12:20-21

Where do you put your special things?  When you were a little child, I imagine you had a toy box.  Did you ever ask yourself the question: “Where will I put my all my toys? There is no more room in my toy box!”

The man in the story today had a problem—too many crops that wouldn’t fit into his barn.  You will read what happened to him.

Today is the only day of life that you and I have.  We have no right to demand God that we wake up tomorrow. I don’t mean to sound harsh when I say that, but the truth is, the here and now is all we have.  But look at what we have: the great gift of life is so precious. Let’s keep in touch with the power in the here and now.

Luke 12:13-21

On Sundays we follow the Gospels from the Revised Common Lectionary.

These Firestarters are from a new edition of The Bible Through the Seasons being developed for families with children. For the Firestarters in the original edition, I recommend the ebook.  You will have the entire program of well over a thousand of these introductions with you on your phone or table! Check the menu options at the site for more information.
