Suddenly the prophet Micah changes from making strong warnings to God’s people to repent, to the promise of a savior from Bethlehem. St Matthew shares this verse when he tells about the coming of Jesus (Matthew 5:2). It is so comforting to know that God always reaches out in love and mercy, no matter how bad people are.
Micah 6:8 is one of my favorite verses in the whole Bible. Someone is filled with confusion and fear about not knowing what God wants so that things would be right once again between him and God. Like a gentle wind after a storm, these three simple instructions from God blow across our souls: “This is only what God wants: to act justly, lovely tenderly, and walking humbly with your God.”
