The Soul Awakes

In the same way, none of you who are unwilling to give up
all of your possessions can be my disciple. Luke 14:33

As a boy growing up, I used to do my homework at a desk right by the window.  In the quiet of those hours, I could hear a light sound of something bouncing outside.  I looked out to see lots of acorns that had fallen on the sidewalk from the big oak tree in front of our house.  Feeling the silence made me aware of that light, pinging noise that filled the air; without silence, I would have missed it.

The soul needs silence to hear the light sounds of the Holy Spirit which awaken the soul to God and what God wants to say to us.  Listen to the sound of Jesus’s voice in the Gospel today.  Surrender to him, fill your silence with God’s presence.  May you be fully awakened to the call of God upon your life.

 Luke 14:25-33
