Peter and Paul get into a strong argument about who can come to Christ. Peter at this point in his life says that those converting to Christ need to pass through Jewish rules. No so, says Paul! Feel the strength of his convictions as you read these verses.
There used to be the idea that we get to be OK with God by keeping all of God’s laws. But no one can do this without the power and grace of Christ! With this power, nothing else is needed. In fact, the only real law to be kept is the law of loving others. That’s what Paul wants Peter and the others to understand. To finally get his point across, he comes to the verse for today—20. It’s a verse that you and I will want to ponder very much, until we sense that it is indeed Christ that drives your life and mine. We’ve got to get ourselves out of the way!
Thursdays are dedicated to the letters of Paul, other letters,
the Book of Acts, and the Book of Revelation.
