I think it would have been unbelievable for people in the middle of the nineteenth century to imagine how people would be traveling in the next century and into own or day. This is largely because of the invention of the internal combustion engine. Very simply, lots of explosions contained in chambers drive the pistons that make our wheels turn.
While God’s people were bound in slavery, they were so discouraged that they just couldn’t imagine a way out. Moses receives the call from God to lead the people to freedom…but they don’t want to get all fired up about this; the “engines” of their lives were not running very well!
God can do miracles of energy and direction for you and for me. Let’s find in this story some internal combustion from the fire of the Holy Spirit to get our engines going!
