God Finds a Way

The people finally get up the courage to follow Moses, leaving their bricks on the ground and leaving Egypt.  How frightened they become when they see Pharaoh’s army running after them!  But Moses isn’t afraid; he just trusts that God is going to do something wonderful.

And God does! What follows this reading is the story of the splitting of the Red Sea into two parts.  The people will walk between walls of water on the dry bottom of the sea.  God will do a miracle so that the people can get to the other side.  When Pharaoh’s armies chase after them, the waters flow back over them and they drown.

God is the One who did it all for our Hebrew ancestors and is the One who will do it all for us.  When we can’t find a way out of a difficult situation, God will find a way when there doesn’t seem to be any!

Exodus 14:10-14

The Saturday passages follow the reading list that Jewish people use in their synagogue worship throughout the world. They are taken from
“The Torah,” the first five books of the Bible from Genesis to Deuteronomy that are read each year beginning with autumn.

These Firestarters are from a new edition of The Bible Through the Seasons being developed for families with children. For the Firestarters in the original edition, I recommend the ebook.  You will have the entire program of well over a thousand of these introductions with you on your phone or table! Check the menu options at the site for more information.
