The writer says that we are God’s work of art—God’s “masterpiece.” The word in the original Greek language is poema. Now that looks familiar to us, doesn’t it? Sure: our word “poem” comes from that word. A poet is an artist who works with words just as a sculptor works with marble, a wood-worker works with wood, or a painter works with oils, ink or water.
You are God’s work of art…Imagine that! The only difference about the work of art that is you and me is that we can resist God’s hands upon us. Marble, wood and paints can’t do that; they’ll do just what the artist wants.
For God to make each of us his masterpiece, we need to let God do with us what God wants. What does this mean for you?
