Joy in a Prison

Paul writes from the stinking prison cell—damp, dark, cold, little food.  Paul, like Jesus in the desert of temptations, is nourished by more than bread.  The Word of God is strong in his heart.  In this letter he writes to his beloved friends in the city of Ephesus.  The walls of his prison don’t stop him from being able to go into God’s presence.

He doesn’t have to go very far, for the Lord Jesus is with him in his cell. What joy and energy fills Paul as he shares the energy of his faith in this letter!  Catch his joy and his love that go far beyond the walls of his cell to the people who first read this letter, and more…right into your room…into your heart.

 Ephesians 3:10-21

Thursdays are dedicated to the letters of Paul, other letters,
the Book of Acts, and the Book of Revelation.
This year in the season Lent we read selections
from Ephesians and 1 Corinthians 11-12.

These Firestarters are from a new edition of The Bible Through the Seasons being developed for families with children.
