As you pray through the Passion Narrative, recall your experience of doing this last Sunday with Matthew. Both evangelists see themes of the Exodus and Jesus as King. What variations and nuances can you find?
Let your whole day be soaked with the saving Blood of Jesus by reading scenes in the narrative . Here is a suggested outline:
1) 6 am (or on rising) Arrest, Trial, Denial of Peter 18:1-27
2) 9 am Jesus and Pilate 18:28-40
3) 12 pm Scourging, Crown of Thorns, Crucifixion 19:1-30
4) 3 pm Piercing the Side; Burial 19:31-42
Be close to your Lord throughout this day, just as did the beloved disciple and Mary, mother of Jesus.
Fridays are dedicated to the Gospels.
This year in the seasons of Lent and Easter we read selections from the Gospel of John.
