Have you ever noticed how much people talk about the weather? This makes conversations with strangers easier. Here’s something else: we can tag a day as good or bad by how the weather is. Sometimes our feelings about what’s going on in our lives are very much affected by the weather.
For the writer of today’s psalm God is reflected in creation. Enemies are closing in on him, but God is closer yet. The wonders of creation remind him of how powerful is his God. Changes in weather offer a way to praise God and to rest in God’s protection.
How about counting all the images of safety in God that the writer uses. Picture these same images in your own life. Call upon the Lord and his angels to protect those you love.
On Wednesdays we continue to read
the Psalms in numerical order.
