The Gospel of St. Luke begins in the Temple and ends in the Temple. At the beginning, it was the aged Zechariah in the center of the Temple called “The Holy of Holies.” Here the Angel Gabriel appeared to him to tell him that his aged wife Elizabeth was going to have a child, John the Baptist. John was to be the one to prepare the way for Jesus’ ministry.
The scene at the end of the Gospel in the Temple is very different. There is joy as the disciples wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit that was promised by Jesus.
Whatever you may be waiting for, know that the Holy Spirit is already filling you with the fullness of what you need. Rest, breathe, be with the Spirit.
Sundays are dedicated to the Gospels from the Lectionary,
During most of Lent and Easter we read the Gospel of John.
