If there were numbers on clock faces over three thousand years ago, the hands of the clock would have just kept turning round and round from one day to the next, from one year to the next without having any clear message from God. Finally, God moves through the wonderful, gentle boy Samuel.
Notice how similar Samuel will be to Jesus. Mary’s song called the “Magnificat” which we listened to six months ago in Advent, is very much like the Song of Hannah, the mother of Samuel.
Just as for Samuel, each of us is born with a special call in life. As we read every Tuesday about this great man, may each of us be encouraged to find and follow that special call.

I especially recommend the free resource in Matthew Henry’s Commentary.
Tuesdays are dedicated to the Old Testament books of history
and the Hebrew “Writings.”
These Firestarters are for families with children. For the Firestarters in the original edition, I recommend the ebook. You will have the entire program of well over a thousand of these introductions with you on your phone or table! Check the menu options at the site for more information.
