Resting with God

Have you ever heard anyone say: “I wonder what it would have been like to have actually been with Jesus when he walked this earth?” Today’s Gospel sadly tells us that so many of those who had this blessing, either did not understand, or were jealous and angry with Jesus.  Moses was able to bring water from the rock at God’s command; but even God cannot make the rock-hard soul of a person flow with living water, unless the person is thirsty for the water that Jesus can give.

You needn’t prefer any other time or place than being right here and right now.  The Holy Spirit is  ready to enter your heart. If there is any hardness in your heart, just say, “I’m sorry” to God or to anyone you have hurt. Then you can just rest and be with your heavenly Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit who love and who fill you with joy.

How about taking the final three verses and memorizing them.  They are so comforting!

Matthew 11:16-19; 25-30

I especially recommend the free resource in Matthew Henry’s Commentary.

Sundays are dedicated to the Gospels from the Lectionary,
During most of Lent and Easter we read the Gospel of John.
