Like a great bully, Sennacherib, king of Assyria, takes possession of Babylon, a very strong city. When Isaiah hears about this, he trembles with fear. Being a prophet, he could see that Jerusalem was going to be next on the list to be taken over by the powerful Assyrians.
Isaiah describes how fear can hold a person frozen, their muscles locking up. Are you feeling fear at all about anything or anyone? Just turn over all your fears to God who has great power against all the “bullies” in your life.
Are there persons in your life who are being frightened? Perhaps the Lord wants you to pray for them and even feel their fear, just as Isaiah stood in for Jerusalem and its terror, until God’s saving power entered in.
