To prepare his dear friends, Peter, James and John, for the suffering of Jesus that was to come later, today’s story gives these three disciples a look at the glory to come. The Transfiguration gives a glimpse of the Resurrection. Take your place beside the apostles as they look at the other three—Jesus, Moses, and Elijah.
Given the divisions that exist among religions, we are a long way from one tabernacle of peace, tolerance, and worship of the one God in whom we claim to believe. Pray for the union of all religions under God.
