No More Tears

For the past ten weeks we have been reading about what happens to godless, nasty nations.  Finally we have three weeks of great expressions of praise and of promises made by God.  The evil cities have their downfall; God’s power of love and compassion wins out over the prideful nations.

St. John in the book of Revelation (21:4) and St. Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians (1:59) were so impressed by verse 8 of today’s reading, that they placed it in their writings: “God will swallow up deathforever. The Lord God will wipe tears from every face.”

When God wipes away our tears, joy floods our souls!
