Gentle Words Win Out.

Red hot jealousy drives Saul in a frenzy; David, on the other hand, continues to be peaceful, finding inner direction from God. Even when he is enraged by the wicked Nabal and wants revenge, there is a space inside David that listens to the touching words of Nabal’s wife, Abigail; David drops his plan to get back at Nabal, and God rules David’s heart once again.

Here and again in next week’s reading are the principles that guide David from his urge to kill Saul before David himself is killed.  When we find religious leaders not acting as they should, all the more are we urged to pray for them.

David and Abigail teach us about Godly ways of behaving.  How would you put what they say into your own words?
