Each day of the week has a feeling about it. There’s a sense, for example, about Saturdays for Jewish people, and Sundays, for Christians. As you follow this Bible plan week after week, you will find that there is a feeling of each day coming from that part of the Bible to which each day is dedicated.
Thursdays during this season—summer in the northern hemisphere, winter in the south—have a feeling that comes from Paul’s great letter to the Romans. As we come near the end of the letter and the season, notice those verses in chapter 14 that especially give a summary of his teaching. Here is one verse that I love: “If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we belong to God.”
St. Paul wants us to be positive and encourage others to follow the special call in their lives, just as we desire to find out more and more, God’s special call on our lives.
Here’s a popular phrase that catches something of what Paul means: “Live and let live!”
