Moses tells the people how they are to behave when they cross over the Jordan River and enter into the land promised them by God.  It’s very clear how he requires the people not to hang around any places of false worship performed by the people already living there.  Moses demands that they get rid of any objects that don’t lead them to God, only worshipping God how and where God calls them to worship.

Now here’s a good principle to live by: cherish those people, places and things that lead you more into awareness of God’s presence and love for you, and stay away whomever or whatever tends to distract you from God.  

Look for those places that, more than other locations, remind you of God’s presence—a church, a favorite spot for a meditation walk, a small table with a candle in your house where you are drawn to God just by going there.  In order for you to find God everywhere, there needs to be some places where you find God’s face first.
