Everyday reading of God’s Word stops us from always doing something, and instead of just being with God who is speaking to us through God’s Word. God’s life flows into us, giving us energy for the next activity we are called do.
Every Wednesday, the middle of the work-week, we find a psalm that provides a time of rest before work begins again. Pause to look around you at a world that rushes to fulfill its own will, instead of God’s will. The world needs us to pray for the world; the Psalms are perfect for that.
Notice what the psalmist does today—a model for prayer. He’s amazed at the wonders of God’s creation. This refreshing pause brings the author of the psalm back to what is basic in life. May the psalm do the same for you by simply being aware of the great gift of being alive.
