The Link of Mouth to Heart

Soon it will be autumn in the northern part of the world. Leaves that once made a gentle swishing sound as they swayed in the trees of spring and summer, soon will lie on the ground, crackling beneath our feet.

Sometimes our words can be far away from what our hearts feel; the link from mouth to heart is broken. These words are like crackling leaves that don’t mean anything. Isaiah warns his people that prayers not felt in the heart just vanish away.

Imagine a clay pot complaining to the potter, “How come you made me like this?” Well, a time will come when people will no longer complain when things are not going their way. They’ll just love doing what God wants and be happy they were created in the first place. Then complaining will no longer get between hearts and words.
