Many years ago my brother called me on the phone one morning to tell me that our Dad had died during the night. I began to feel very sad as I rose and got ready to preach at a Sunday service. As I left the house, people were moving about, cars where on the roads. Life was going on for everyone. Didn’t they know that my Dad had died?
David felt like this when his dearest friend Jonathan died in battle. Actually, he was hoping that his enemies didn’t find out so that they would not be glad about his dying.
I wonder what it was like–the melody of David’s song about his love for Jonathan. As you read his words, can you find some phrases that touch you and sing a tune to them? Singing is a wonderful way to express feelings, whether joy or sadness. Those reading the Bible with you would love to listen to you.
