Standing at the Top

Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Psalm 37:4

One year as part of our vacation, we took a car ride up Mt. Washington in New Hampshire.  This is the highest peak in the northeastern part of the United States.  We could see right across the state of Maine and saw the ocean.  For that moment, we forgot how scary were the turns in the path to the top.  Sometimes we had been driving through clouds!
In today’s psalm, it is as though the writer were looking at his life from the top.  He takes a look at the whole of life, like zooming out in a camera.  Things just don’t seem fair in his life. However, by stepping back from it all, he knows that God is in charge. God will finally see to it that things are just and fair.

It may not happen right away, but when we take a zoom-out look at life, we’ll know that God’s love and kindness are greater than anything.
