Jesus said to them, “Haven’t you ever read in the scriptures, The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
The Lord has done this, and it’s amazing in our eyes?
Matthew 21:42
Tension builds up more and more between Jesus and the religious leaders. They are getting very angry at all the popularity Jesus has with people, especially after the parade when he entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday.
Jesus is never afraid of these proud and arrogant leaders. Putting it simply, they’re bullies. He looks them right in the eye and tells them a story about how they are like wicked farmers whom the owner of a vineyard hired. You’ll find it easy to see whom Jesus means when he talks about the son of the owner of the vineyard. Yes: it’s Jesus himself. He knows that soon there will be a plot to kill him. He’s not afraid to die for us.
Bullying is a big problem in schools. Spend some time with your family praying for those in your school who are suffering from being bullied. This will increase your compassion and love—and courage too, as you give comfort and become friends to children who may feel very afraid, sad and lonely.
