28 Lord God, you are truly God! Your words are trustworthy, and you have promised this good thing to your servant. 29 So now willingly bless your servant’s dynasty so that it might continue forever before you, because you, Lord God, have promised. Let your servant’s dynasty
be blessed forever by your blessing.
2 Samuel 7:28-29

Imagine being told by God that you, your children, your grandchildren and all your descendants are chosen by God to be very special to God. This has just happened to David. He does what he does best–he prays. Here it’s a prayer of thanks, of wonder, and asking God to do what David knows God will do–be faithful and keep God’s promise.
One of those descendants of David is Jesus. With Jesus, something new and wonderful happens. You don’t have to only dream about being so special like David, you are even more special than he is. How is that? Because Jesus spreads his arms around you and holds you tight. He gives to all those who let themselves by loved by God and who love God, the rights and privileges that Jesus has as not only as the son of David, but the very Son of God!
What God promises God does forever. God keeps His promise. Take some time to give thanks to God in your own words, as David does in his.
