Now faith, hope, and love remain—these three things—
and the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13

Drop a tea bag into hot water, and you’ll see the color of the water begin to change.  Put your nose close, and you’ll get a refreshing scent of the tea.  Just a little bit of tea leaves and there you have it: a hot, delicious cup of tea.  It was my Dad’s favorite drink.

This is one of the most famous chapters in the whole Bible.  When we ask, “How come?” the answer is simple.  It’s about the experience that every person on this earth wants: to be loved.  Imagine that your heart is a cup filled with water into which each verse of the reading drops like a tea bag. Read very slowly so that your life  is filled with the gift of love—very fragrant and refreshing from which others can drink.  

Count how many times the word “love” appears in this chapter; yet “God” is not mentioned even once!  That’s because, as St. John says, “God is love.”
