The Lord was attentive to Sarah just as he had said, and the Lord carried out just what he had promised her. 2 She became pregnant and gave birth to a son for Abraham when he was old, at the very time God had told him. 3 Abraham named his son—the one Sarah bore him—Isaac.
If your family gave you a surprise birthday party, what would you do after everyone shouted: “Surprise!” Your mouth would be open and you’d be quiet for a second or two, then laughter would burst out from you and from everyone else as joy is released into the room.
When Isaac was born it was like a surprise party for Abraham and Sarah. She laughed out loud (lol!). She didn’t know what else to do with the amazing give of having a child at such an old age in her life.
The lives of each of us is like one big surprise party. God loves us and is always up to something to turn fear and sadness into joy and laughter—especially when don’t expect it. As you turn from listening to the Word of God to living it, know that God’s got a surprise waiting for you.
