What do you think is the most popular game for children to play? I’ll bet it’s “Hide and Seek.” Perhaps it’s because a group of children can play the game without lots of time to set up.
The story you’ll read about the wise and foolish bridesmaids waiting at night for the groom reminds me of “Hide and Seek.” Five wise bridesmaids had oil in their lanterns, five foolish ones didn’t. The foolish ones weren’t around when the groom arrived and they missed the wedding. Like “Hide and Seek” the story closes with, “Ready or not: here I come!”
We often miss times when Jesus’ kindness and love can be found, because we are not letting the light of love inside us shine out to find those moments. Right now the Holy Spirit is giving you oil for your soul so that you can become more loving and filled with light. Sit down, close your eyes and receive it.
