I bowed and worshipped the Lord and blessed the Lord, the God of my master Abraham, who led me in the right direction to choose the granddaughter of my master’s brother for his son.
Genesis 24:48

Think about your life for a moment. You are like the caboose of a long train of ancestors. Your parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and all the “great-great-greats” each had to fall in love and have children so that you would be born. It makes me think how much God wanted each of us to be alive.
Today’s reading is the beginning of a love story between Isaac and Rebecca. God was the match-maker who wanted them to meet so that God’s loving plan and promise to Abraham would continue. Even though many of the persons in the Torah readings are selfish and only want what they want, God still patiently works out his plan as though God is weaving a design in a beautiful rug.
