Our Greatest Treasures

Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The Lord’s word that you delivered is good,” since he thought, That means there will be peace and security in my lifetime.
Isaiah 39:40

When you have a friend over to your house, you like to share your toys, your electronic games and all the things that are important to you.  It wouldn’t make much sense to invite a bully over to your house to show him or her all these things!

But that’s what King Hezekiah did.   He wanted to so impress his enemies that he showed them all the precious articles used in worship. Guess what. Like thieves that have found out how valuable the articles are in a house so that they can come back later and rob, that’s what happened to Hezekiah.

King Hezekiah turned out to be “King Show-Off.” Today’s story warns us to be careful about those with whom we share what is valuable to us, such as our thoughts and feelings.  These are our greatest treasures; share them carefully.
