A Spiritual IQ

All kinds of creams, oils and perfumes are on the market, designed to have skin feel warm, moist and smelling so good.

There’s a word calling “the anointing” that takes the idea of rubbing oil and makes it have a spiritual meaning.  Just as oil soaks into the skin and becomes one with it, so the anointing of the Holy Spirit means that the Spirit soaks into the soul and becomes one with it.

St. Johns mentions the anointing three times from verse 20.  He makes an amazing statement in verse 27: “Since his anointing teaches you about all things (it’s true and not a lie), remain in relationship to him just as he taught you.”  Wow!  The anointing gives us knowledge of all things!  Now it’s not as though we become an encyclopedia; it’s just that our spiritual “IQ” gets bigger and bigger so that we have understanding of things and people just as God does.  What a great gift from God!
